Includes broadside dated Sept. 16, 1814, indicating that William Sloan of Schoharie, N.Y., obtained of Ebenezar Herrick of West Stockbridge, Mass., rights to make, use and vend his "invention or improvement" for manufacturing stockings, called the "New Stocking Loom," for the State of Vermont and 34 counties in New York State; Sloan then selling to Levi Dick of Sangerfield, N.Y., the right to make, use and vend this improvement in Madison County, N.Y. Also includes undated and unsigned broadside stating that Sloan had obtained of Herrick the rights to his loom, and a second undated and unsigned broadside with manuscript note attached indicating that Levi Dick had obtained the rights from Sloan.
